REV. HUGO MORRISON
Reverend Hugo Jamel Morrison is a pastor, educator, husband, father, and community leader whose ministry is grounded in faith, education, empowerment, and service. He is married to Tanika Owens Morrison, and together they are the proud parents of their son, Noah Jamel.
Rev. Morrison earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Old Dominion University, where his leadership and ministry involvement included service as Student Ambassador Vice President and President, Preview Counselor, Student Services Mentor, membership in the Ebony Impact Gospel Choir, and co-founding Old Dominion University Power Ordained Worshippers. He later earned the Master of Divinity in Practical Theology from Regent University in 2009.
Answering the call to ministry at age 18, Rev. Morrison was ordained by the Eastern Virginia Association of the Southern Conference of the United Church of Christ. In September 2017, he was elected Senior Pastor and Teacher of Union United Church of Christ in Norfolk, Virginia β affectionately known as βThe U Church: The Place Where YOU Belong.β
His ministry extends beyond the pulpit through theological education, civic leadership, community outreach, and work centered on youth opportunity, violence prevention, and community empowerment.
His preaching and leadership reflect Unionβs commitment to vibrant worship, prophetic proclamation, intentional education, justice, and transforming the community through faith in action.
